UK Open Darts: Day 2 Round Up

Good morning from a very wet Minehead. Day 2 of the UK Open darts final is over and there was more drama with more seeds falling and the event is now wide open.

The star of the day was Gerwyn Price who clocked up an impressive 104.57 average against Krzysztof Ratjaski, having pushed a side our tip from yesterday, Jamie Hughes in the afternoon session.

Michael Smith made struggled on in the afternoon session and nearly had another scare going into the deciding leg against Daryl Gurney. Smith triumphing 10-9.

The Mirror Man, Simon Stevenson, has become a crowd favourite down here in Minehead. The darter from Plymouth, had already dispatched Barney on Friday evening. Saturday afternoon came and he dispatched Kim Huybrechs 10-6.

Going into the evening session we watched some darts in Reds, Butlins stage 2 area and what a treat we had! It started with Nathan Aspinall taking on Steve Lennon. The youngster who had a great Worlds on 3 months ago really had the crowd support behind him. Triumphing 10-8 victory having been 5-3 down.

The crowd then had another treat with the Mirror Man taking on Dave Chisnall. Chisnall was obviously struggling with the heat, as a security guard had to bring him a towel to mop his brow as Stevenson kept piling the pressure on.

An ever present in the PDC Steve “the Bronzed Adonis” Beaton is “rolling back the years” AGAIN!! Having dispatched youngster Keegan Brown 10-8 in the afternoon, he had Dancing Dimitri in his sights in the evening. The dancing was cut short for Dimitri as Beaton took the game 10-8 with some impressive darts. Steve now just 1 victory away from a highest ever PDC Ranking of 18th in the World.

The last game of the evening was Rileys favourite Rob Cross on main stage. The bookies had him at an eye watering 1/5 to win the match but started really slow loosing 3 straight legs before stopping the rot. Reyes looked for divine inspiration from the board at the break, 3-2 up. Only
