The NFL Season gets exciting on the road to the Superbowl! The New England Patriots led by future hall of fame quarterback Tom Brady have made it to the divisional round yet again, after winning the AFC East for the tenth year in a row. Led by master mind coach Bill Belichick, the patriots didn’t have one of their best season, but it was still enough to win their division. Tom Brady hasn’t been firing on all cylinders, and former All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski is having one of his worst seasons.

Despite this the Patriots find themselves 2 wins away from yet another Superbowl. Angeles Chargers had the joint best record in the AFC, but unfortunately entered the playoffs as the fifth seed, after Kansas City won the division. They are led by another future hall of fame quarterback in Philip Rivers, but the most dangerous part of the Chargers team is their ferocious defense led by Pro bowl pass rusher Melvin Ingram combining that with defensive end Joey Bosa and rookie safety Derwin James, The Chargers are looking very strong contenders for the Superbowl.

After a tough wild card game against one of the NFL’s best defenses in the Baltimore Ravens, the chargers did just enough to hold off a late comeback from rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson. Jackson struggled for most of the game with his own fans calling for Joe Flacco to return to the team after not playing since week 11. However Ravens coach John Harbaugh stuck with the rookie quarterback but even after Jackson scored  two touchdowns in the last 5 minutes of the game it wasn’t enough to catch the Chargers who will fancy their chances against a dangerous Patriots team.

AFC matchup (4)
Arrowhead Stadium, Home of the Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs

Record: 12-4

Head Coach: Andy Reid

Key Players: Patrick Mahomes & Tyreek Hill

Indianapolis Colts

Record: 10-6

Head Coach: Frank Reich

Key Players: Andrew Luck & Darius Leonard

Kansas City are led by Patrick Mahomes, who is undoubtedly going to win this seasons MVP award, for a second-year quarterback he has been incredible. While the rest of the Chiefs’ team are well rounded their offense is overloaded with talent even after losing Kareem Hunt. The biggest worry for the Chiefs is their sub-par defense. They have some key pieces on that side of the field, but it is still yet to all come together for them,  if they are serious about getting to the Superbowl and winning it their defense must step up.AF matchup (5)

While the Indianapolis Colts have thrived after a resurgence with coach Frank Reich, who is favourite for coach of the year. Their offensive line has gone from worst in the NFL last year to the best this year, combining that with the rebirth of starting quarterback Andrew Luck and the colts have made their way to the divisional match-ups. Rookie Darius Leonard has been key for the colts defense after leading the NFL in tackles in the regular season.

The colts easily breezed past the higher seeded Texans who they had already payed twice this season due to them both playing in the NFC South one of the most competitive divisions this year, Deshaun Watson had one of his worst games for the Texans as Bill O’Brien’s team crashed out of the play-offs. Frank Reich will feel confident his Colts team can steal a win against the explosive Chiefs offence, this could be one of the highest scoring games in playoff history.
