Europe attempt to retain Mosconi Cup in Vegas

Team Europe begin the defence of their Mosconi Cup crown this evening in Las Vegas, having won the last five editions of the tournament known as ‘The Ryder Cup of Pool’.

If the American team were hoping to capitalise on home advantage, they may want to erase the 2013 tournament from their memory, where they went down by eleven points to two against a rampant European team.

Europe’s 11-5 win last year in Blackpool, whilst less emphatic than the year before, is still a clear indicator of their chances in 2015.

Dutchman Niels Feijen will captain the champions after winning the MVP award in 2013 and 2014.

Mark Wilson will skipper the Americans, who include their youngest ever player in Mosconi Cup history as one of their wildcard picks. Skyler Woodward is just 22 and will join Shane van Boening in one of tonight’s two doubles matches against Darren Appleton & Albin Oushcan.

You can watch all the live action from the Mosconi Cup at Rileys between now and Thursday.
