Aintree Grand National Racing Festival – Ladies Day Preview

Its on to Day 2 at Aintree and its time to get out your hats and dresses, its Ladies Day! See if we can follow up yesterdays 10/1 tip in todays preview.

Another 5 races for you live on the BIG SCREEN at Rileys today, with the rain the UK has had today will be all about Soft going, and finding the horses that love the mud. So here goes…

The first live race is the 2:20 pm Betway Top Novices Hurdle, a small field for this opener with just 7 going to post currently. ROUGE VIF gets our nod in this, has some useful wins on similar ground and his jumping is getting better.

2:50 Betway Mildmay Novices chase is up next so grab a beer (or soft drink!) from the bar. A field of 7 runners with a red hot odds-on favourite. TOPOFTHEGAME is the only pick in the race, Harry Cobden and Paul Nicholls team  up again. If you recall this horse is a red hot favourite following his excellent run in the RSA at Cheltenham and should justify the pressure on his back.

The 3:25 JLT Melling Chase is up next we hope you have been waiting patiently! If you recall back to our Cheltenham previews in March we had a hot fancy for TOP NOTCH on that day he had a disappointing run. We are sticking with him on this one, as Henderson`s decision to drop him back in trip could be the master stroke that gets hims home first.

Pins at the ready its the 30 runner field for the 4:05 Topham Handicap Chase over the National Fences. First things first though, Hatrick Happy Hour* has just started at the bar Last years winner Politologue is back again for another tilt, on paper looks the horse to beat. BALLYHILL gets the nod in this one for us, currently trading at a nice 9/1 back it each way, remembering to find the bookie that is paying 6 places.

The last one of the day is the 4:40  Doombar Sefton Novices Hurdle, 13 runners currently going to post. This race will be a 3 mile slug and you will definitely need a horsing who`s in favour of the mud. Our tip has some good form on soft ground, with 4 of the 5 wins coming on soft ground.  EMITOM is the one for us here, trading around 4s currently so back this to win.

Tomorrow is the big one the GRAND NATIONAL! Last year in our previews we tipped the winner Tiger Roll, find out who we are backing this year by clicking here
