(Watch David Haye and Dereck Chisora at Rileys)
(Posted: 10 July 2012)
Is boxing your thing? Like to get up close and personal? Then what better way to enjoy the grudge match to end all grudge matches than in the company of your mates at your local Rileys, where the screens are big and the atmosphere is always a knockout.
Wladimir Klitschko has called it a “Freak Show” and the rest of the boxing world is lining up behind him to trade acrimonious jabs, punches and insults as David Haye and Dereck Chisora prepare for a fight mired in controversy. Many say the fight should never have been sanctioned, and to allow the bout between the two fighters, after their very public and messy brawl ringside last February following Chisora's defeat by Vitali Klitschko, can only serve to bring the sport into disrepute.
But despite plenty of misgivings, the Luxembourg Boxing Federation has defied the British Boxing Board of Control and granted permission for the fight, which is scheduled to go ahead at Upton Park on July 14th. If that fiery ringside warm-up last year is any indication, this is going to be a bruising encounter between two fighters with an axe to grind, and while it’s fair to say the matchup is controversial, Rileys must be impartial; the match is happening, and we can’t deny our members the opportunity to see what could be the best fight of the year.
So, if the question is, where can I watch Haye v Chisora on the biggest loudest screens in the country, the answer has to be Rileys.
